Maharashtra: Common throughout along ghats, open places and banks of nallahs.

Srikakulam (AP): Darabanda South West hill top. Rare along moist localities of deciduous forests at higher altitudes (about 1000 m).

Throughout India, up to 900 m. Sri Lanka. Orissa: Ganjam, Bhubaneswar; Dhabaleshwar, Cuttack. Occasional in rice fields, along the sandy banks of canals and rivers etc.
